Amy Kathie Reynolds is a Senior Training Manager at CARET, where she trains teammates and customers in the legal tech industry while actively building community through the WIT Network and the Women In Tech ERG. But the job title doesn't really explain who she is or why she wrote this book. For most of her professional life, Amy showed up as someone who had it together. She was competent, reliable, and good at what she did. She built a career, a marriage, a family, all the external markers of a life well-lived. What no one saw was that she was also carrying generational trauma, inherited shame, and a deep belief that she wasn't worthy of the good things in her life. She was surviving. She wasn't actually living. It wasn't until she hit 40, sitting at her desk, back hunched, chest tight, asking herself Is this how I want to spend the next 40 years?, that something shifted. She started noticing patterns: the way her parents' pain had shaped her language, the way her own pain was shaping her daughter's future, the way two wrongs, when examined closely enough, could actually become something powerful.Amy wrote Double Negative for herself first. Then for her daughter, so she would never have to apologize for taking up space or believing she was enough. But mostly, she wrote it for anyone who has lived through negative after negative and wondered: What if there's something good hiding in this?Today, Amy continues to do the work, both in her career supporting other professionals through their own growth and development, and in her personal life, learning what it means to mother with intention, heal with honesty, and build a life that actually belongs to her instead of to the stories that were told about her. She's a Jersey girl through and through, living in New Jersey with her daughter and their dog, and she's still learning that rest is maintenance, not a reward, that anger is information, and that becoming is always messy but always worth it.You can connect with Amy and join the community of people reframing their own double negatives at exponentialgrowthpress.kit.com, where she shares essays, resources, and a weekly dose of hard-won wisdom about healing, growth, and what it really means to develop the positive from the negative film.
