Every civilization has a story. Ours is killing us.
But it doesn't have to.
We already have enough. We just haven't organized it right. Our work could provide livable conditions to the entire human population with a fraction of what we currently produce. Our work could power the planet with clean energy without inventing a single new thing. Our work could even automate enormous amounts of human labor and eliminate drudgery from our lives.
So... WHY DON'T WE? What if there's a simple, understandable reason behind all of this? What if the things that keep you awake at night aren't separate, impossible crises but problems we can solve together?
Work Will Kill Us All is a sharp, expansive, and occasionally profane journey through history and into the present, exploring how we might rebuild the systems underneath modern life - transforming who owns what, changing who benefits, and learning what becomes possible when we design life to actually promote living.
