Frank L Smoll, Ph.D., is Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of Washington. His research focused on coaching behaviors in youth sports and on the psychological effects of competition on children and adolescents. He published more than 145 scientific articles and book chapters, and he is author/co-author of 25 books and manuals on children's athletics. Professor Smoll is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), and the National Academy of Kinesiology.
