Abraham Stoker (1847-1912), known as Bram, was the son of an Irish civil servant. He was the business manager of the Lyceum Theatre in London, where he worked with the formidable impresario Henry Irving, one of the models for the Count. In his spare time, Stoker wrote short stories and novels, by far the most popular of which was Dracula.
