Have you ever damaged something in your house, and never told your parents because you feared how they would react? Well, I did this a bunch of times and most of the times they would find out and always say "why didn't you tell me". I was always scared of telling them that I damaged something because I didn't want them to be angry and disappointed with me. Growing up, I realized that telling them would be the correct thing to do.
The time I damaged something was when I was fifteen years old, my dad picked up my nephew and brought him over our houses. My nephew was older than me and he introduced me to a game called Super Smash Bros when I was seven years old. When he came over, I suggested to him that we should play Super Smash Bros Ultimate the most recent Smash Bros game. He agreed and we went downstairs in the basement. Our basement has a movie theater system and chairs with a normal sized tv by the wall. My Nintendo Switch was already hooked up and I got a second controller for him, and we started playing.
While playing against him, I won and lost a few matches. Our final match was different as we played this match like our lives depended on it. I chose Gannondorf which was one of my mains at the time and he choose Link which was his main. We played this match out to our fullest and I ended up beating him and won with a Spike which sends the opponent into the blast zone. I started celebrating because of my victory and He started chasing me as a joke and I ran out the movie theater into the basement living room area with had 3 couches with some tables behind them. I was running on the couch and jumped on a small table behind the couch then I jumped off the table and I didn't make a full recovery, and I couldn't keep my balance but I kept running then *bang* I run into the wall and put a big hole in the wall with my right side of my body around my waist.
When I saw the hole I made, I was shocked and thought of how my parents would react to it. I was terrified because I didn't know if they were going to be pissed with me. My dad was the only adult at the house at the time, and I didn't want to tell him because I thought he would kill me. My nephew told me to tell my dad at first, I didn't want to tell him but after thinking about it there was no point in hiding the hole. It dawned on me that if I told him he wouldn't be as mad at me rather than him finding it out on his own so I soon maned up and went up the stairs just to tell my dad about what happened.
When I told him about the hole I made in the wall, he was mad at me of course but wanted to see what happened and how it happened. I didn't expect him to be so chill about it, yea he was mad at me, but he wasn't yelling and cussing at me for what I did he just wanted to know what happened. I think My dad was so chill about what happened because he knew he could fix it. He did tell some of his nephews about it and did make some comments, but I could tell he wasn't pissed at me, but he was mad about it. We didn't tell my mom about it because me and my dad didn't think she would go downstairs which she normally never does but when she found out she was pissed which was understandable. She took my phone away from me and yelled at me. Even though I told her what happened she was still pissed but again it made sense why. What I gained from these experiences is that if you tell your parents about something you did, they will be more understanding.
