Max and Alessandra Gluck are young, healthy, highly compensated urban professionals who have been married for two years. Computer engineer Max wants to start a family; lawyer Alessandra wants to wait until she advances in her legal career. Max does not want his wife to devolve into an angry cat lady. Alessandra, only twenty-nine, tells Max he must wait until she is ready to go through the pains of childbirth. Both are opportunists, and both enjoy intercourse. Over the course of the day, Max has opportunities presented to him to have intercourse with a Latin plumbing woman, his mother-in-law, and Alessandra's younger sister. Alessandra has similar opportunities presented to her by her supervisors and co-workers. Each rationalizes their decisions amidst a variety of contemporary issues: undocumented immigration status, sexual harassment, surrogate mothering, office policies/etiquette/efficiencies, family ties and future relationships, legalities, and, of course, personal lust and enjoyment. With the backdrop being the forthcoming 2024 Presidential election, the novella presents a humorous, explicit farce involving a beautiful interracial couple.
