This book is for anyone who struggles in knowing how to pray. The
book explores the Lord's Prayer - the how-to-pray guide that Jesus
taught in response to an unnamed disciple's request, "Lord, teach us to
pray." The book develops the structure of the prayer - the address, the
first three petitions about God, and the last three petitions dealing with
the stuff of our lives - identifying the spiritual truths upon which each
section is built. It shows how those spiritual truths speak to our anxiety
and worries about the present, our guilt, regret, and shame about the
past, and our fears about the not-yet-experienced future. Treating the
prayer Jesus taught as a how-to-pray guide, the book shows us how our
experience of prayer can become more meaningful and fulfilling - a way
of connecting with God as we grow spiritually into the likeness of Christ.
