Sara's story:
Sara grew up in River Bend, Wisconsin, a close-knit small town, where life revolved around bonfires in the woods with her brother, Darrell, Bodie, and her best friend Tanya. Her only troubles were being razzed for 'hitting the pipe too hard again' when she doubled over in coughing fits. Until one fateful afternoon while on a beer run, a massive oak tree claimed the life of Darrell and her brother, leaving Sara shattered. This loss, coupled with Tanya moving out of the house next door, left Sara vulnerable and untethered.
What was supposed to be a carefree girls' night out at a Milwaukee rock concert turned into something entirely different. Historically, Sara would have backed out too, not fond of going to the rough side of a big city alone, but now she was rolling with the punches. Literally. A rogue appendage with no mercy in the mosh pit sent her dazed and seeking some air. With her guard seemingly taken the night off, Sara left with the only guy not wearing a band shirt.
Dating and marrying Brandon was effortless. He drove a suped-up GTI, had all the answers for anything Sara dared to wonder out loud, and he was impeccable at reading people like an open book. He became her anchor in a storm of grief, but when Brandon himself became the subject of Sara's questioning, Brandon's protectiveness slowly turned into something darker.
Then Sara uncovered his secret: a big inheritance that cast everything she thought she knew into doubt.
Her solace in recounting the good times around the fire with her family and friends only brought her full circle, as the horror surrounding her brother's accident reclaimed her. Catching her husband in awful lies reminds her that she has so much more grief to endure. Desperate for an upper hand, she gives Brandon an ultimatum - seeking time to figure any of Brandon's mysteries out.
