Zusammenfassung

This is the first study on the development of Italian ethnic identity in North America (United States and Canada) from a gender perspective and based on memoir. It argues for a thoughtful reexamination of an emerging genre in contemporary autobiographical writing which is particularly apt for narrating the experiences of women and ethnic minorities.

Eva Pelayo SanÞudo holds a PhD in Gender and Diversity from the University of Oviedo and currently teaches at the University of Cantabria (Spain). Her research fields include American literature, ethnic studies and gender studies. Her monograph Spatialities in Italian American Women's Literature: Beyond the Mean Streets (2021) has received several awards.

María Pilar Rodríguez is Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Deusto. She holds a PhD from Harvard University and has published extensively in the fields of literature, film, culture and gender studies. She is the Principal Investigator of the Basque Government's communication research team.
