Military Police enforce regulations and laws. However, some situations in war zones don't fit perfectly inside the lines. Follow the ongoing challenges that one MP faces as he grapples with gray areas between right and wrong in Vietnam.
Ben Thieu Long (pseudonym) was born in Chicago and spent a couple of unsuccessful years in college before being drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969. Ben's experience in Vietnam profoundly challenged his self-identity and foundational beliefs. He returned home a drastically changed young man. However, he also developed the strength and resilience to persist in the face of adversity. Insights gleaned from his experience reshaped his courage and moral determination. He learned an important lesson about choices and responses: While a person may not always make wise decisions, they can grow and mature. Ben returned to college as a more focused student. He completed his B.A. in Sociology, earned a master's degree, and had a successful human resources career in manufacturing, higher education, and healthcare for more than four decades. Ben effectively led organizational change and served as an inspirational role model for many facing difficult workplace challenges. He also coached individuals to overcome troublesome life circumstances and rebound as emotionally and mentally robust members of society.
