In the short story, A Portrait of Us, Jack and Mikhailo trick Alexander and lock him in the wine cellar with the promise of fooling around with Jack on the day they were supposed to have their engagement portrait done. Mikhailo takes an outfit from Alexander's closet and pretends to be the prince. After spending an afternoon inches away from each other, they could do nothing else other than embrace one another.
In the short story, As the Rain Pours, Jack tries to save Mikhailo from execution after being framed for assaulting Jack after spending a night together. Valentine, Mikhailo's twin, comes to the castle to help them escape, giving her life for their freedom.
In the short story, The Final Triumph, Jack returns to Taversia to kill Alexander so he and Mikhailo could live freely together, Jack leaves a note warning Mikhailo about what he was doing and that he promises he would see him soon. Mikhailo storms the castle with his father Warren and the witch Sabina, desperate to make sure Jack survives.
