In 1988 I became a born-again believer when the Holy Spirit convinced me of my sinful condition and of my need for a savior. I was very curious about what had transpired, and I read extensively about salvation. At the same time, there were earth-shaking events that were happening in the world. The Soviet Union was breaking up and several European nations were declaring their independence, including East Germany, Poland, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Romania, and Bulgaria. Coincidentally, there was an attempt by a group of Jewish people called the Temple Mount Faithful to lay the cornerstone for a new temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. I recognized the historical and Biblical significance of those events as they relate to end time prophecy and I became determined to learn what the Bible said about the end of the days. In particular I was focusing my attention on the rapture of the Church. In the fall of 2013 I was reading articles on my favorite end-times website, and I came across an article that was describing what was being said on another web site regarding the rapture of the church. In short the other web site was telling its more than one million followers that the end of the age was at hand and that it would be ushered in by a cosmic disturbance caused by the comet Ison. I tried to alert the owner of the web site of her error but my emails to her had no impact. In late November the comet Ison burned up as it was rounding the sun. I wondered how this failed prediction would impact the faith of her followers and decided to write a book to answer four questions: (1) What is the Rapture? (2) Why is there a Rapture? (3) When will it occur? 4) What time is it now? I am not a theologian so the book has not been written as an exhaustive attempt to describe every aspect of the rapture of the Church. Instead, it has been written in practical layman terms and attempts to answer only the four questions identified. It is my hope that readers will be like like the Bereans in Acts 17 and will go back to the Bible to see for themselves if what is said in the book is true. All of the portions of Scripture that I have referred to are included in the book. I am retired from full time work and reside in Arizona.
