Figurative Language Quick Starts is part of the Quick Starts series, which provides students in grades 4 through 8+ with quick review activities that start the day's lesson off right and help students build and maintain a powerful language arts vocabulary. Each page features two to four quick starts that can be cut apart and used separately. The entire page may also be used as a whole-class or individual assignment. Concepts covered include imagery, simile, metaphor, adage, idiom, cliché, personification, allusion, symbolism, hyperbole, and synecdoche. Use the quick starts: - to start the day's lesson; - as a pre-test assessment; - as review for test prep; - displayed on a whiteboard or classroom projection device; - or in a learning center for students who have extra time.
