I wrote this book after spending nearly ten years in Toronto Single Parents Associated. I joined that association when my first wife, Mary, died after being struck by a car in 1965, leaving me with eight- and twelve-year-old daughters. I found help for men in my situation at the time to be woefully weak, with little improvement in the next ten years. A lot of inaccurate ideas were being tossed around and real problems either ignored or glossed over. I hope what I have discovered will be a help to at least some men (and women who want to get a better idea of how men think). Mine is not the only way, but it is a sample of reality for many. About two years after Mary died, I accepted Christ as my Saviour. Without His help it is unlikely I would still be here to tell anybody.
